Tips For Your Personal Injury Road Rage Case

Road rage is a growing issue on many highways and interstate road systems throughout the country. This incident can last for several miles or be a quick encounter. Either event can result in severe personal injury. Though you may not be able to prevent being the victim of road rage, you can help prove the fault of the other driver in a personal injury road rage case. Here are a few tips that may help prove your case and show the personal injury you received.

Record Your Voice

If you have a dashcam, you can ensure that it will pick up some of the road rage incident. This is especially true if the driver gets in front of you and stays within the line of camera sight. Your dashcam is only part of the way you can prove the actions that occurred and when they occurred. Record your voice. You can do this by using the Bluetooth recording device on your smartphone. Many smartphones are equipped with voice recognition that will allow you to turn on the system with a voice command.

Once you are recording, make sure to speak clearly about what is happening, where you are, and what the other driver is doing. If you call the police, make sure to record the call as well or have the passenger do it. This will show what happened and your attempt to stop or deescalate the situation. Only use this option if you can use voice commands or if another person is in the vehicle and can safely record while you drive.

Record the Crash

If your road rage encounter ends with a vehicle crash, make sure to record the aftermath. If you are unable to move but have a passenger with you, make sure they record the crash. If you can show the damage to your car or to yourself following the accident and before receiving medical treatment, you can prove your injuries did happen due to the road rage encounter.

Go to the Hospital

You may not think you are hurt badly when an accident occurs. The truth is, you may not know how badly you are hurt until the next day or later. Make sure that as soon as you can, you go to the hospital. If a trip to the hospital or ambulance is offered by the police officer on the scene, make sure to use the option. This will help show any immediate injuries and help document the issue further.

Your personal injury lawyer will be able to go over your case and determine what information and proof they need. If you have a dashcam, they may ask for it as proof of the incident and the road rage attack. They may also ask you for other information including the medical records of your injury and any proof of loss of work or damage to your vehicle.
